What happens when you combine a bit of punk rock, a sprinkle of tattoo art, and a whole lot of local makers? A big event called Beijing SKIN Tattoo Festival.
Organized by the likes of Rumble in the Jumble and MusicDish*China, the event will see 15 tattoo artists, 20 local merchants, and five indie rock groups descend on Xian Bar this May.
Expect a big gathering with a little bit of something for everyone. On the tattoo front, guests will be able to choose a style that fits them, with artists from five local studios – Soyi Tattoo Studio, Black Pegasus Designs, Delight Tattoo & Graffiti, Alien Club Tattoo, and Zhang Jianshen & Shi Shou Tattoo Design – to choose from.
Then there’s the music. MusicDish is bringing along some familiar acts to the fest. These are PizzaFace, the Ravages, Hangnail, Hawk Sally, and Hot Piss.
Plus, while you’re shopping for your first or next skin art and jamming out to good tunes, you can peruse the handicrafts of local makers and companies as well, with Rumble in the Jumble bringing the flea market along for the ride. Here you’ll find makers like Velveteen’s Secret Potions, snacks, wines, trinkets and more to gift to yourself or others for the coming spring.
But there’s a little more to this whole shebang. There’s still a short amount of time left to enter the event’s poster design contest!
Entries must include the names of all participating tattoo studios and bands, plus the event name. Poster size should be 42cm x 57cm at 300 dpi.
First prize: RMB 500 + a free Beijing SKIN ticket
Three runner ups will receive a blind box with prizes from sponsors and presenters + a free Beijing SKIN ticket.
Plus, Team Rumble and MusicDish will be selecting ten of their favorite submissions to print and display at the event.
