Beijing is a happening city! Don't miss a thing with our weekend roundup of the latest news.
New Market To Open at Old Carrefour Sanyuanqiao Location
Two years after the closure of Carrefour’s Sanyuanqiao China International Exhibition Center location, a spot it had occupied for more than two decades, a separate brand is bringing a new shopping opportunity to residents of the area in July.
Market 7, which takes as its focus a “fresh market and leisure” experience, will open next month in the old Carrefour location. The space has been upgraded and modernized, with a fresh market providing high-quality and fresh ingredients on the first floor, and a comprehensive specialty food items and leisure space on the second floor.
Aiming to position itself as “the people’s vegetable basket,” the new market is community-focused, with intentional plans to integrate the old and new, the trendy and time-honored. Plans for exhibition spaces and family-friendly activities have also been announced.
Shunyi 3A Ice Hockey Space To Open in July
Shunyi’s newly renovated 3A Ice Hockey Space, which is billed as the “largest ice hockey training base and entertainment venue in Asia,” is expected to open to the public in July of this year. The complex, which has been converted from an old factory and is located near the Beijing Capital International Airport, boasts an area of almost 20,000sqm, a 1,800sqm ice rink suitable for international events, additional training rinks, an ice hockey science and technology museum, a gymnasium, multifunctional support facilities, a basketball court, cultural, educational and training facilities, exhibition halls, dining facilities and more.
