Beijing Begins Trial Heating Period

The Beijing Municipal Administrative Committee announced yesterday, Nov 7, that the city has begun the trial heating period in preparation for the start of the legal heating period on Nov 15. During the test period, residents should pay close attention to the heating units in their homes and report any leaks or other problems to their local heating management department. If necessary, heating personnel are prepared to conduct on-site maintenance and emergency repair.

Ba River Cruise Project Enters Final Stage

The Chaoyang District Water Bureau recently announced that the Ba River cruise project has entered the final stage of development. Once completed, the cruise line will see boats traveling along a 15km stretch of the Ba River, from the Indigo Harbor Dock to the Wenyu River. 

The route will afford passengers scenic views all year round, with a long stretch of the river situated beside a peaceful greenway with beautiful walking trails and cycling paths. In addition to sightseeing, the cruise route will provide convenient access to sites along the river, including the 798-751 Arts District and Langyuan Station. 

Beijing Releases First Domestic Diabetes Prescription Drug

At the end of last month, China’s first domestically produced dual-target anti-diabetic drug was approved, and on Nov 6, the first prescription was written for the drug at Peking University People’s Hospital. 

Mazdutide (玛仕度肽) is delivered by injection and, according to reports, may only need to be administered once a week. The official entrance of the drug into clinical practice represents an important breakthrough in independent Chinese innovation in the field of diabetes treatment, and it will also provide a safer and more efficient treatment option for patients with type 2 diabetes.

Ji Linong, chief physician of Peking University People's Hospital, says Mazdutide has been shown to significantly improve blood sugar, blood lipid levels and assist in weight loss, whether the type 2 diabetes patients had previously been untreated or treated with oral medicine.

Mazdutide has dual functions of reducing blood sugar and weight. It is expected to provide more suitable local treatment options for diabetes patients in Beijing and throughout the country, and help improve the comprehensive management of clinical diabetes.
