New Same Club to Open in Tongzhou

Recently, approval was granted for the construction of a new Sam’s Club in Beijing, this time in Tongzhou District. The new Sam’s Club, which will be located in Songzhuang Village, will be the sixth in the city and the first for Tongzhou. The project has a total construction area of 55,300sqm. 

City officials hope the addition of this new Sam’s Club store will create a “destination-style business district,” bringing “new high-end consumer choices to residents of Tongzhou and surrounding regions.”

Beijing’s Citizen Traffic Complaint Service Gets Upgrade

Beijing Traffic Police have launched version 3.0 of the 随手拍 mini program. The program enables members of the public to capture video of all manner of traffic violations and other traffic-related problems. Previously, video could only be recorded and uploaded in real-time, however the new version of the program has added a local video upload function. Members of the public can now upload traffic violation videos recorded by their driving recorders or mobile phones within five days. Once the information is verified, the material will be entered into the law enforcement system, expanding the available channels for traffic complaints. 

There are also additional upgrades with regard to enabling public feedback on traffic issues, such as traffic light timing and other structural aspects, with the authorities guiding traffic organization optimization with public opinion.

There is also a new star rating system. Users can accumulate active points by participating in complaints, reports, and suggestions, corresponding to levels from one to nine stars.

Since its initiation in August 2020, the program has accumulated 6.72 million registered users, and still manages to gain an average of 40,000 new users per month. There have been more than 14.5 million complaints received, with a daily average of more than 7,700 complaints. Of the more than 14.5million total complaints received, more than 7.9 million have met evidence requirements for follow-up action in accordance with the law. Traffic violation reports have also fallen noticeably since the program’s implementation. 

The public is reminded that it is strictly prohibited to take photos or videos while driving.
