Ling Long park is south of the subway station. I haven't been out of that station, but looking on Baidu and Google Maps, I see that you need to walk south, not east. I've been to that park before and seen the train, but it's been years and years.
Hi dude
What are you talking about?
The Kerry Hotel's official NFL Super Bowl Party takes place from 6.30am. Tickets are still available. --> I called numerial times last week and yesterday. No tickets available at all!
I will pay you money if you can get me tickets for this party!
Va Va Voom has moved to Solana, 朝阳区朝阳公园路6号蓝色港湾Solana国际商区16号楼L-RS-03店铺(靠近蓝港西南沿河). Va Va Voom not only has changed its concept, it has also expanded the menu. It only used to serve Vietnamese cuisine but now the menu has included Singaporean, Thai, Malaysian and Indonesian cuisines... When I looked at the menu, I thought the owner was very ambitious to include so many countries into the menu and the menu is really extensive in selections... So we decided to order a dish from each country so to challenge the culinary skills of the chef. We have the Singaporean stir fried radish cake, Thai shrimp cake, Indonesian "gado gado" salad , Vietnamese spring rolls, Malaysian fried beef noodles, Singaporean hainanese chicken rice and Thai Tom Yum seafood hotpot... To our surprise, every dish that we ate was fabulous, among us were Singaporean, Malaysian, Hong Kong and Beijinger, all of us agree that the dishes we ordered were surprisingly authentic and great. Thump up to the chef and owner. we have finally found a truly great southeast Asian cafe to dine, and we shall return to Va Va Voom to try different dishes... Must try!!!!
I quit the taxi game September 30, 2011, the day on which I decided I would either have a nervous breakdown or learn how to ride an electric scooter.
I opted for the latter option, and wandered down to a little scooter shop near my home.
In the past year and four months, my blood pressure has since gone down. Way down. My general enjoyment of life in this frustrating city has gone up. I highly recommend getting an electric scooter. Yamaha. Massive chain and u-lock. Lithium battery. (Oh, and by the way, take the damn battery into your house/office/supermarket/wherever you go. It may seem like a pain, but finding it gone is a much bigger pain. Can't count how many friends I've advised to do that--and how many I've had to go pick up because they were sure it would "be fine just for a minute".)
But I digress.
A century ago, early car owners were told to "get a horse!" Now, a century later, I want to shout at all you poor sad folks waiting helplessly by the side of Beijing's roads, "Get an electric scooter!" Or an electric bike. Or a regular bike. Who cares. Just skip the taxis. Your life will be so much better.
The taxi pirates are dreadful - I'm not disputing that, and I know you sometimes have to take a cab but it was the scalpers at 798 years ago that forced me to start cycling everywhere - giving up taxis has had an immeasurable impact on the quality of my life.
Oh and yesterday i got stuck in the snow, no bike, no cabs - I took the subway at rush hour and got home in less than ten mins.
I used to live by the international exhibition center. That was easy to get taxis there but now we live in Chao Yang Men it is almost impossible to get a taxi. I just take the subway now. I find the taxi drivers in this area to be very lazy, But then again that is a big problem in Beijing : laziness.
Getting a cab in Beijing is a pain in the ***
If you want to get a cab during weekend specially; they all try to rip you off!
Moreover I found out a new trick! Some taxi driver have fake 100 RMB bills and exchange your real quick. Even Chinese banks are aware of it.
So be careful and try to pay with small cash as much as you can.
I think since they've already set up all the fireworks stands, they probably won't ban them this year, but I would support a shorter time period for allowing them, like only for a few days. The amount of mess they create is just so wasteful, and I for one am tired of having to flee the country to get away from the constant booming of the fireworks.
Of course, for the first several years I was here, the fireworks were banned and I got used to celebrating without them. The one year I had to stay here for the entire holiday, I thought I was about to go crazy from all the noise.
thanks those informations up there,I really need to try one.Seems Totobobo is more cuter than Respro B-) Both are like the gas mask.I had the same experience of suffocating in my previous mask that I bought from Pharmacy...but protect ourself from those hazards is priority.
Respro is for that "Silence of the Lambs" escaped mental patient look
Totobobo is for that "Robot from Outer Space" I'm-just-exploring-this-planet look
the 3M masks are for that "Contagion" look

Thanks! So much more to say about each of those points, but, well, most of it you just have to learn as you go. There's also differences depending on whether you spend more time with more traditional Chinese or with a more modern, younger crowd. For example, several friends of mine work for more modern, private companies, and their noon break is an hour, more similar to a Western company--and their bosses seems pretty strict about it. I, on the other hand, work for a Chinese company that is, in general, VERY traditional (used to be a government enterprise, though has recently privatized). There are a few colleagues who are a bit younger and not quite as traditional, but the 2-hour noon break is still pretty much inviolable. I'm always using that to my advantage, though, such as for project deadlines. Colleagues are forever telling/asking me to finish stuff "by lunchtime"--but I know that no one is going to really do anything with it until about 2 or 2:30, which gives me two or more hours of peace and quiet to finish stuff up, while boss and colleagues snore quietly on their little cots/mats/beds around the office. I love the noon break!
Yeah, Respro and Totobobo aren't great for extended walks or exercising. I ride a scooter to work, so works well for me cause I'm sitting most of the time when I'm outside, riding through the traffic fumes. The tight fit of the Respro is a bit uncomfortable, but for me that's just what I want, since I've developed some serious breathing issues after 13 years here.
My two cents: if you sweat even a little bit (or breathe a lot and your lungs are filled with life-giving moisture), both the Respro and the Totobobo get very uncomfortable after only about 20 minutes of wear due to condensation buildup that eventually waterlogs the filters and makes them hard to breathe through.
I almost suffocated on my 25-minute walk to work yesterday in a Totobobo as the moisture from my breath waterlogged the filter after about 20 minutes.
Respro wears very tight against your face and I find that uncomfortable as well. Respro is probably your most expensive solution as well.
Totobobo is also more expensive than most.
I've found 3m 8511 masks (see on taobao below, about RMB 15 each):
are my favorite as the filter is somewhat cup-shaped that makes it comfortable, two sturdy straps and a "m-bar" that allows you to form ft the mask over the bridge of your nose. It also has a condensation valve that prevents waterlogging (though if you are doing heavy exercise this will get waterlogged with sweat/condensation as well, usually after about 30 minutes of jogging.)
I use a Respro Techno mask (with a carbon filter) for the winter and a Totobobo mask for the summer.
Respro is a bike courier mask imported from the UK. Totobobo is a mask imported from Singapore, developed originally, I believe, for workmen whose jobs put them in very dusty and/or highly polluted conditions. Totobobo is the best choice for kids or anyone with particularly small features, since it can be cut to fit the size of your face.
You can get the Respro at Natooke, the bike shop on Wudaoying, and also on Natooke's Taobao shop. I've also seen it on ijustwannabuy.com
Totobobo is available at NLGX shop on Nanluoguoxiang, as well as at the Torana Clean Air Center up in Shunyi. I've also seen it available on taobao from a ton of sellers.
Just be sure to replace the filters regularly. I replace the Respro filter every 20-30 days, and Totobobo filters about every two weeks. If it's been as dirty as these last two weeks, I'd replace the filters sooner rather than later.
