This hip 12-seat bar is not your everyday mianguan’r. The ingredients are excellent, food prices reasonable (drinks less so). The menu is limited, but what they do they do very well indeed.

Ok noodles, pushy waitress

The noodles are fine, I had the beef brisket noodles. The meat is quite good and plentiful, the broth is fine, and the noodles (thin) are good.

The head waitress (or so it seemed) is quite pushy trying to get you out before you have finished or before you are ready to leave. I would guess they are suffering the repercussions of only being able to seat 12 at any time and not having planned how this will negatively affect business.

All in all, a mediocre place with fine noodles.

rip off for the naive

this is a complete rip off, paying so much money for noodles?!?
you end up paying for the decoration and i guess the right to say you ate at this artsy place to whoever you think would think thats cool.
but its not. cmon theyre just noodles!
if you want real chinese noodles, go to a place where the local go to.
not to some place where foreigners who cannot speak chinese and who shield themselves from chinese local culture go to to feel chic. its not worth it.
do yourself and your wallet a favor.

Excellent

A high-end experience at almost fast-food prices. For people on an extremely limited budget, this can serve as a date place. The noodles are superb and the turnip is cooked to perfection (yes, really). The only drawback to this place is very limited seating, especially when the weather is not sufficiently favorable to allow al fresco dining, and the limited menu. Although having such a small number of items permits them to focus, the xiaochi (snacks) are entirely forgettable. Other than that, I'd almost rather eat here than neighboring Duck de Chine.

Yum. I went here last night with a friend and I was really impressed. Nestled in the 1949 Hidden complex, the Noodle Bar is a perfectly gentrified place to itch your noodle scratch or give out-of-towners a gentle introduction to Chinese noodle soup. The Noodle Bar is aptly named--although it takes it's influence more from Kyoto than Beijing. Crowned with only 12 seats around a substantial noodle counter, the bar gives off a modern communal feel while still being intimate enough for a date. There is no magic here, as you can see your noodles being pulled, dipped in water, bathed in broth and garnished with chosen meat. The menu is simple and ordered much like sushi--just check off items on a list. You have a choice of thin or thick noodles, brisket/tripe/tendon, several hot veggies and half a dozen of cold dishes. Soups are 38RMB and sides are less than 20RMB. The broth is very flavorful and can be tweecked with any one of the 5 condiments that are left on the table. The noodles are chewy, without being too dense.
The side veggies were good--we ordered the vinegared spinach with peanuts (yum) and the sauteed lettuce (which was just ok).
I highly recommend Noodle Bar...you might even see me there!
