BSC Great Wall Challenge - 1 Week To Go!
There’s only one week left until Beijing Sailing Center’s Great Wall Charity Challenge takes place. Teams of daring competitors will sail 40kms, run 12kms and scramble a final 2kms up the Great Wall – an incredible test of stamina and endurance, and all to raise money for a worthwhile cause.
That chosen cause is Roundabout, a Shunyi-based organisation, which raises funds for 30 charities in and around Beijing. Its founder, Leslie Simpson, will direct funds raised by BSC’s inaugural charity event to a specific project set up to help children affected by cystic fibrosis.
BSC’s Director, Rick Pointon, says that BSC is delighted that the center has been able to provide such an exciting opportunity to support the local community; “We wanted to devise a unique sporting event that would really challenge people, whether they are experienced sailors or complete beginners. It’s certainly not going to be an easy undertaking! We are hoping the wider Beijing community will back the competitors and show their support by pledging sponsorship contributions, or even coming along to watch the event itself.”
All donations are welcome. To pledge your support, email sailing@beijingsailing.com or call 010 5900 0276.
Spectator’s package includes two night’s accommodation, return transport from Beijing, meals, transport along the race route and entrance to Great Wall, party and supporter’s t-shirt – only RMB 960. A great sporting weekend away for all the family – book at sailing@beijingsailing.com.
