Head of the Queue: Hanggai Music Festival 2012

Mongolian folk-rock doyens Hanggai have developed a cult following since their inception back in 2004, and their first foray into assembling an international lineup of multi-cultural folk acts proved a big success last summer. Now it’s time for that tricky second outing.

Reasons to go
If Hanggai think they’re good enough to play at their festival, it’s safe to say they’re worth seeing.

Reasons to avoid
You may want to save your hard-earned kuai for the big one (China Music Valley Festival) later this month.

Bring
Your hand-sewn purse. There are a host of ethnic cuisine and handicraft stalls about.

Where and when?
Mako Live House, May 5-6, but for now have a glimpse of Hanggai in the video below.

jadarite,

This post was originally published in May's issue of the magazine (which was available on issuu on Apr 20).

We always endeavour to post blogs in a timely manner in advance of the show but space is limited and unfortunately this was one such instance where we struggled.

If you want to stay ahead of what's going on in Beijing then follow us on issuu.com/thebeijinger and you'll never miss out.
