The Sun Society Begins this Saturday at Migas feat. Zhala and Demonslayer

A new party series is about to launch at Migas. Under this moniker, The Sun Society, local creatives Philipp Grefer (Fake Music Media) and Paul Gonzalez will attempt to bring in a number of up-and-coming underground performers from multiple disciplines to keep the party scene here in the Jing freaky and at the forefront of trending musical styles.

So far the Sun Society is said to boast fictional patronage from legendary personalities of art and popular culture, like Jesus, Elvis, Sun-Ra, Hunter S. Thompson, David Hasselhoff, Confucius, and Lei Feng. So, essentially this seems like the motley vibe they will be bringing to the table this weekend.

For their initial effort, they are bringing in Zhala, a Swedish cosmic pop phenomenon discovered by Swedish electro pop icon Robyn and signed to her Konichiwa imprint in 2012. Her command of voice and stage is stunning and electric. It kind of reminds us of an Abba concert designed specifically for mutants. Also on the bill is Saigon-based future phenomenon and self proclaimed shaper of energies, Demonslayer, who will chop up and blast some west coast bass with tenacious dexterity.

Things get started at The Bar at Migas at 10pm this Saturday (Aug 8). Door is a respectable RMB 60, which isn’t bad considering the talent that will be on display during this magical summer evening. Here is the event listing for more info.
