Snow Blankets Beijing, Temperatures Set to Drop Further

Beijingers woke up on Sunday to find the city blanketed in snow with more falling throughout the day, amazing if you weren't set to be outside much. Now, however, it seems that Beijing's winter wonderland phase is over, with the next week looking very cold but also sunny.

Temperatures for the coming week are dropping fast, with weather.com.cn estimating a low of between -6 and -12 degrees Celcius for the next seven days, and the iPhone app forecasting sunny days with lows of between -8 and -12 degrees Celcius this upcoming week. The day's high temperatures will not go above zero until next Monday, apparently.

Earlier predictions warned of -17, -18, and -19 lows this coming week, so we are happy that the indecisive iPhone weather app people have changed their minds.

In the meantime, make sure you are careful on the roads as ice has formed on the sidewalks and the streets. It might be worth getting the subway and leaving your bike at home.
