Award Winning "Honey Man" Hong Kong Bartender John Ng to Guest at The Black Moth, March 30

A sweet buzz is building around Nali Patio ahead of this weekend, thanks to news that Hong Kong's beloved "Honey Man," bartender will be landing to dish out some sweet nectar to tempt Sanlitun's barflies out of their winter daze. Yes, The Black Moth, one of the most ambitiously artsy cocktail bars to open in Sanlitun as of late, is hosting a fittingly trendy event on March 30 with all-star guest bartender John Ng.

Nicknamed the "Honey Man" by his fellow drink slingers, and described as a "maestro bartender from Hong Kong," Ng will be in town to make a trio of extra-special cocktails using Michter's American Whiskey. Have a peek at the delicious drinks you can expect to try:

Hailing from Hong Kong, Ng studied at the prestigious IHTTI hotel management school in Switzerland before tending bars at various establishments in Virginia and then moving on to his hometown's famed Wyndham bar in 2012. It was at this upscale Hong Kong bar that Ng made a name for himself mixing up popular concoctions like the Wellington Treasure. This particular drink uses Hong Kong's Yung Ke restaurant's roast goose dish as its muse, incorporating a goose fat washed vermouth into the cocktail along with Johnnie Walker Gold, bitters, and plum sauce.

While fowl fat may not exactly be the most appetizing drink ingredient to spring to mind, we might just be too unimaginative, because The Wellington Treasure topped The Drink Business' Top 10 Hong Kong's Cocktails list. His offbeat recipe is something we'll be sure to quiz Ng about when he stops by The Black Moth.

After building up a following at Wyndham, Ng entered and won 10 international bartending competitions like the Diageo World Class Best Bartender 2013-15, Hong Kong Asian Cocktail Championship 2010, and Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition 2014. Drinks World Asia, meanwhile, has ranked him among the the 25 Best Hong Kong Bartenders three years in a row.

Today Ng works as the Asia Brand Ambassador for Michter's, a prestigious Pennsylvanian bourbon.
