May 1-5: 20-hour intensive Chinese medicine course

May 1: Ubuntu Cultural Family Fun Show

With roots in humanist African philosophy, ubuntu is a belief that the idea of community is one of the building blocks of society. It is sometimes translated as “I am because we are” or “humanity towards others.” This Saturday (May 1) is the first-ever Ubuntu Cultural Family Fun Day in Beijing. The event will feature fun activities, games, and loads of tasty foods (including traditional sub-Saharan cuisine). May 1-3: Art Beijing

Established in 2006, Art Beijing is one of the biggest annual events on the city's art scene. Held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center, the event showcases hundreds of classical and contemporary artists, with special projects this year including limited-edition pieces by Damien Hirst, a retrospective of neo-realist Xin Dongwang's works, a special selection of watercolors by eight artists. From RMB 150. When can you find electronic music from than 60 Chinese and foreign musical groups, outdoor camping, art workshops, impromptu talks about anything and everything, meditation experiences, and vogueing workshops, all in one place?
