Beijing Enters Moderately Aging Society

According to a report released by the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), Beijing has been a moderately aging society since 2021.

The number of people in Beijing's permanent resident population aged 60 or above reached more than 4.4 million, which is about one fifth of the entire population, according to the report.

The population aged 65 or above was around 3.12 million, accounting for 14.24 percent of the total – an increase of 204,000 compared with 2020. It makes 2021 the year with the largest increase and highest growth rate in the population aged 65 or above over the past five years, according to the report.

Tesla Hits 100 Superchargers in Beijing

Tesla China has announced that the electric vehicle company now has 100 Supercharger stations in Beijing alone. These stations offer 890 rapid-charging stalls meant to provide Tesla owners in the capital with plenty of locations to recharge their Teslas whenever the batteries are running low.

Tesla China said that with the 100 Supercharger stations in Beijing, Tesla owners should be able to find a charging site within 15 minutes. In addition to the Supercharger Network, Tesla China has also set up 32 destination charging stations in the city, offering 100 charging piles in Beijing for EV owners.

Beijing To Build a Conservation Base for Giant Pandas

Beijing has agreed to build a conservation base for giant pandas in the city’s southwestern Fangshan District, aiming for new technological advancements in the field of rare animal breeding, according to a report from China Daily.

The Beijing panda base will be relocated to Qinglonghu Town, taking up 133 hectares. The place will function as a demonstration base that features information on giant panda breeding, scientific research and education. The city’s authorities said that Qinglonghu Town has the perfect ecological conditions for the conservation of giant pandas, making it a suitable location to expand the living space of the animals.
