Only a Few Days Left to Vote in the Cheesy Pizza Cup Sweet 16!

TIme flies over a fun holiday, and it’s almost time for the Cheesy Pizza Cup to move onto the next round!

The Sweet 16 will lead into the Elite Eight come Tuesday, Jan 31, and after that there’s only one round to go until the Final.

Here’s a recap of the contest thus far…

Two of last year's Top 10 Pizzas were cast aside this week as voters cast their opinions in the Round of 32.

With just 16 slots moving on to the next round, there wasn't room for everyone -- and powerhouses Pizza Saporita (last Pizza Cup's #10 and our 2019 overall champion) and expat favorite The Local (#6) were left behind.

Ten of the 15 participants in our ongoing Cheesy Pizza Month are still in the running for this year's championship, including all but one of our former champions: reigning champ and 2017 winner Pie Squared overcame Yummy Box; 2020 and 2016 champs Bottega outpolled Turkish Feast; 2011's champ Kro's Nest ousted The Local; and our only three-time champion Gung Ho (with wins in 2018, 2015 and 2014) pushed aside Georgia's Feast.

Now each go on to even more competitive contests, with each of the top 16 a worthy foe. Of particular note is the meteoric rise of Joe's Pizza, the Manhattan-born pizzeria that is the one remaining fresh face on our list, having opened with a bang only several months ago.
