Who's Opened and Who's Closed on the Burger Scene This Year?

We're kicking off our 2026 Beijing Juicy Burger Cup, and that's got us thinking about changes in the burger scene since last year's cup. Each new year always brings some fresh meat into the mix, along with some sad farewells (many years later, we're still mourning the short-lived but legendary Xingfucun burger spot Cannon's.)

So to start it all off, we're developing a Master List of all the contenders and in the process checking out who opened and who closed over the past year.

Closures

Starting off with the bad news first, two places that took part in last year's Juicy Burger Fest have since closed:

Golden Hill Ale House
The T Restaurant

And these other burger spots have also closed:

Openings

Now, on to the good news! There have been quite a few new burger spots or places that serve burgers that have opened in the past year. Here are a few of the most prominent ones that have come under our radar.

Chili's 奇利斯美式小餐馆

Perhaps the biggest new burger spot that's opened since last year is popular Tex-Mex chain Chili's. Their signature, the Oldtimer with Cheese, which features a handmade Wagyu and Angus beef patty paired with American cheese, all nestled in a brioche bun, has won over hearts and stomachs the world over.

PIGNUT BARBECUE

Opening up near WAB, PIGNUT BARBECUE has quickly become a firm favorite among American BBQ lovers here in Beijing. They've got a selection of four different burgers on their menu: Beef Brisket Burger, The Double Burger, Pulled Pork Burger and Fried Chicken Burger.

Sandyq 桑迪克哈萨克民族餐厅

We were very impressed with Beijing's first Kazakh restaurant Sandyq when it opened up in November last year. They recently entered the burger scene, adding the Beef Rib Cheeseburger to their menu, which features hand-pulled beef ribs cooked using a secret recipe, piled on a beef patty with melted cheese. Sure, it's not a traditional Kazakh dish by any means, but we're always happy to try more burgers!

Inner Café

Although Inner Café has been around in Beijing for a while, it wasn't until last year that they added burgers to their repertoire. They've got everything from a Classic Angus Cheese Burger to more unusual offerings like a Crab Roe Mayonnaise Burger.
