Three Things for the Week Ahead in Beijing (May 18-24)

There's a film screening at The Factory, a special rooftop yoga session at Longfu Temple and Heartbeat blood drive this week in Beijing.

Watch – Chinatown Punk Wars Screening at The Factory

This Tuesday (May 19), sees another of The Factory's regular movie night screenings. This time, they'll be showing the award-winning documentary Chinatown Punk Wars. The film explores how two Chinese restaurants unexpectedly became the center of LA's late-1970s punk scene, led by legendary club owner Esther Wong, aka "Madame Wong" aka the "Godmother of Punk." Older Gulou veterans who remember Temple Bar's old "Rock Against Jams" nights may also spot some funny similarities in the playful rivalry between the competing venues featured in the film.

Along with the screening, guests can also enjoy The Factory's '鱼'esday Tuesday deal, where you can get Fish and Chips plus a beer for RMB 99, as well as their usual food selection and daily happy hour deal, which runs from 4pm-8pm.  Before and after the screening, they'll also be playing a backdrop of music inspired by the documentary.

The Chinatown Punk Wars screening will take place on the second floor of The Factory on Tue, May 19 at 8pm. Entry is free, but there is a minimum spend of RMB 50 per person, and advance registration is recommended as seating is limited to around 40 guests. You can register by scanning the QR code below, and you can read more about the event here.
