Agenda’s Out!
In this summer of swine flu, continued global economic misery and ever-present heat, our collective responsibility remains to have the best time we can. The next time you’re in a bar, however, raise your glass to those who labor behind the counter making delicious concoctions while you get sloppy. We profile and congratulate a select few of Beijing’s best bartenders, as voted for recently by readers of the Beijinger. Other comprehensive lists cover Tibetan cuisine, cold noodles, organic food stores and serene lakeside parks.
Beijing’s dining ecosystem continues to evolve, and this issue, we introduce teppanyaki restaurant Wan Feng Ting, Kiosk’s second location, Satay Temptation’s Malaysian snackfood, Italian restaurant Meeting Point, and Candy Cafe – try their desserts!
In Spotlights, we meet Maison Boulud General Manager Ignace Lecleir, Brazilian samba instructor Renata Secco, and F&B Director Tan Jit Kiang from aloft Hotel. If you want nothing else but to escape the city for a little while, take a look at the Spotlight on Baiyangdian in Hebei, where you can boat around on the biggest lake on the North China plain.
