Vinyl Fantasy: Win Tickets to Yen's Fetish Halloween Bash!

Now in its seventh year, Yen’s Fetish Halloween party remains one of Beijing’s most popular excuses to dress up sexy, scary and downright silly – sometimes all at the same time – come late October. Ditching my usual mild-mannered reporter persona, I donned my Superman costume to challenge Yen boss Kiko Su with a few questions on fetishism and what to look out for at this year’s Yen Halloween party. We also have two double passes to this year's party to give away!

What do you think when you hear the word “fetish”?
Before we started the Yen Fetish parties in 2004, I would have thought of leather catsuits or adults dressing as babies. Now it’s associated with what has become possibly the biggest Halloween event in Beijing, and one that our team is proud of. It’s entertaining for the staff to see what crazy costumes you get when mixing Halloween with a fetish vibe. Anyone’s welcome, with their fetishes or costumes, as long as they respect other guests. It’s always great fun.

What are the weirdest fetishes you’ve ever heard of?
Is latex cross-dressing mature midget S&M still considered weird? We’ve seen all kinds of clothing fetishes on display over the years at Yen Fetish Halloween, from very sexy to very strange. The human imagination is truly amazing.

Ever heard of anyone with a fetish for DJs?
After DJs finish their sets, their headphones are usually dripping with sweat. I’ve heard of a person who tries to steal sweaty headphones from DJs. It’s been going on for years, and I – er, that person – has never been caught.

Any fetishes of your own? Give us a hint?
Vinyl. Is this vinyl records to play on turntables, or another kind? That I will not tell.

Tell us about this year’s Yen Fetish.
For costumes, skin is in. On the music side, DJs will include Yang Bing, Usami, Blackie, X Lee and Ouyang. This year’s event will also feature some new outrageous decor provided by local artists to spice up the 706 warehouse space. We’ll also have our online costume contest the day after on Clubzone.cn, with some nice prizes.

Got your own costume ready for the party?
I can’t reveal my costume yet, but I can tell you that I’ll prepare my beard and hair to be as smooth and well-groomed as a world-class putting green.
