Talking Pints: New Bar From Amilal

News just in on a new bar from Alus, the guy behind Amilal - deservedly one of Gulou's most popular bars, with a good selection of quality beers and for my money some of the best value whiskey in town (single malts RMB 50). The new bar will be called Amilana, and it's located at 141 Gulou Dongdajie, on the second floor above a clothing store.

From what I've heard, Amilana is likely to open at the end of this month. Apparently it's two to three times bigger than Amilal, will be a modern cafe-bar - "Cafe Zarah with more of a bar feel" I'm told - serving sandwiches and coffee as well as drinks, and there'll be regular live music. More to come on this, but given Amilal's pedigree, Amilana should be one of the more interesting things to happen to Beijing's bar scene so far this year.
