Bollywood Tales Announces Closure
In another blow to the F&B industry, Indian restaurant Bollywood Tales announced its closure this past Saturday (Dec 13). The shock announcement comes just a month after Migas Mercado also suddenly closed and marks another sad day for Beijing's foodie scene. Fingers crossed, we can make it to the end of the year without any more closures.
Opened by Dastaan founder and chef Rabiul Baksh, Bollywood Tales opened up in late March 2024 and was the second branch Baksh opened under the Dastaan banner. During its time in the capital, it gained much praise and recognition for its authentic Indian cuisine and lively foodie events. Bollywood Tales always pushed to create bold and exciting flavor combinations, with a prime example being the range of Indian tacos they created for our 2024 and 2025 Taco Fests.
We reached out to Baksh about the closure, and he told us, "We've made the difficult decision to close our Bollywood Tales location due to a decrease in customer traffic over the last few months. This has made it increasingly challenging to maintain the operational costs at this branch. We want to thank everyone who has supported us, and we are excited to continue serving you at our other three locations."

The nugget of good news, among the bad, is that the other three branches (Dastaan, Rabiul's Kitchen and Mumbai Impression) remain open, so you can still head to one of these spots to get some of their delicious, authentic Indian offerings.
