Your City Needs You! Vote Beijing in The Miele Guide 2011/2012

If voting in our 8th Annual Reader Restaurant Awards - as well as the City Weekend and Time Out awards, which are also underway at the moment - hasn't given you awards fatigue, you're in luck.

Every year since 2008, The Miele Guide has called on foodies from all across Asia to weigh in with their picks of the continent's finest restaurants. Voting for the 2011/2012 edition of The Miele Guide commenced on March 14 - you've got until May 16 to cast your vote. The results, which will be published in October 2011, are the product of several rounds of judging, narrowing the selection down from a preliminary shortlist of 914 restaurants. A variety of methods of polling are used, from the public vote to private tastings and input from industry figures, food writers, and an invited jury.

One good reason to get involved is to bump up Beijing's representation on an international list. While Da Dong managed to scrape into the number 20 slot on the current edition of The Miele Guide, Beijing - and Mainland China in general - is woefully under-represented. Singapore and Hong Kong dominated last year's Top 20 - while we have to admit that Beijing still has many shortcomings in terms of choice, service and consistency, this is a situation we simply cannot tolerate. To make sure Beijing's finest don't go unrecognized, go straight away and cast your votes on The Miele Guide's website.
