Want To Be A Record Breaker? Join Us In Trying A New World Record
You'll have already seen that we were challenged by Guinness World Records to help Beijing set some more records. You'll have also seen that our first attempt ended in spectacular failure.
We're not going to let the M&M-chopstick debacle derail us, though. No, we're going to power on in our quest to enter the record books. This time, we're determined to beat the Guinness World Record for putting gloves onto 10 people.
The current time to beat is 02:13:30 and was set by China's very own Gao Bo on CCTV in Beijing on August 16 of this year. We want your help to beat it. If you're up to the challenge, meet us at Moment Cafe in Sanlitun Soho at 2pm on Tuesday, November 8.
There are only two rules for this particular Guinness World Record:
- The attempt may involve any type of gloves that can be purchased.
- The glovees cannot make any motions to assist the glover.
Here's a video clip of Gao Bo's record-breaking feat. We advise you to study it before you make your own attempt.
If you missed the first installment of our attempts to smash a Guinness World Record, check out our November Cover Feature here. Below is the official challenge letter that kicked it all off:
Hello, Beijingers!
We at Guinness World Records have been chronicling all the superlatives of the world since 1955. If it’s the fastest, the tallest, the longest or the strongest, we’ve recorded it. That's what we do at Guinness World Records – that’s why we’re the global authority on record-breaking achievements.
You might not be the world's fastest or tallest man, but everyone can excel when they put their mind and heart to it. That’s why as the Global Managing Director of Guinness World Records I would like to challenge you, the staff and readers of the Beijinger, to add to China’s records and be the best in the world.
Beijing and China is taking centre stage in the world so being record breakers seems only right.
The staff of the Beijinger will take up the first attempt – to beat the most M&Ms eaten with chopsticks in one minute. Keep abreast of details of the challenge afoot next month on their website.
Good luck.
Yours,
Alistair Richards
Global Managing Director of Guinness World Records
