The Drive-Thru: Beers (and More) On the Go

The first thing you should understand about The Drive-Thru is that it’s not a bar. They do have a great selection of beers, starting with Kingfisher at RMB 19, but it’s intended primarily for you to take home. There are a few seats, though, and you’re welcome to stay for a beer. Owner Ryan Johnston (founder of The Brick) expects to have Slow Boat Brewery’s beers on tap soon, and wants to operate a tasting bar offering a regularly rotated lineup of draft brews.

Just don’t expect to hang around for the whole night – this isn’t Paradise CVS/Heaven Supermarket. Nor is The Drive-Thru all about beer. Ryan dries his own herbs and spices, for sale along with black garlic and slabs of Himalayan salt. He’ll also build you a custom-made bike. Meanwhile, Ryan’s wife Cici has a selection of attractive pashminas for sale (from around RMB 1,200).

Hey guys,

We at THE drive-thru would like to say "thank you" for your continued support. We have listened to the request of everyone and are making the proper adjustments to the venue. We are still keeping with the original ideas, tho we have to change to keep up with demand of you guys..!!! . We promise to continue to play the best INDY music in Beijing.!!!

BIKES

We have now made room in store for extra tables and for bike storage. no need for everyone to stand in one small area, and no need to leave your bike outside Sanlitun SOHO. simply bring it up to 5-306 with you.. yep.! bike safety first.

Speaking of bike safety. Feel like your bike needs a check up.? bring it on by and I'll do my best to explain in ENGLISH.!

Some of you may know that we will be hosting a Great Leap Brewery pop-up later this month, hints why we are making room, so keep your ears and eyes open.

We also have several new beers such as Samuel Smith Imperial Stout & Oatmeal Stout from UK, Real Lager from Athens Greece, and a few German brews. that puts us up over 133 beers for sipping in a none- smoking environment. sorry smokers, it's now super nice weather out, and we have a wonderful bridge.. !! thank you

We are now working with MOMENT CAFE and one's will be able to have a wonderful sandwich or crepe delivered before 10pm.

We are now serving a basic line of mixes. Salty dog w/Himalayan salt, & THE drive-thru.

HERBS & SPICES

Mexican Mole powder, Ahi Tune rub, and Asian BBQ seasoning have been the new blends added to the list. We also have Jamaican All-spice, Curry Leaves, and Cumin now available. Also our Red Apple with Himalayan salt & Dried Strawberries are a big hit.!

so that's what happened to Ryan!!! after returning to beijing last time after a six month absence i'd found he'd sold the brick and had no idea where he was..
so first he started a small bar on an unknown street in shuangjing with some home-made salsas and bjork playing and turned it into the powerhouse of the Brick, putting shuangjing on the bar-scene map..and now another 1st for beijing.. honestly, teaching with Ryan in Soho back in the day i would've never guessed he'd become one of beijing's F&B innovators..i'm so happy for him, if not a little jealous..lol
good job my man, and good luck!
..i promise the 1st thing i do next time i get back to beijing will be driving up for a beer!
