Fashion at Your Fingertips: Zara Launches Online Shopping in China

Unless you’re a whiz at Taobao and have the patience to wade through virtual heaps of clothes, online shopping options in the city are limited. Zara is looking to remedy that. The fast-fashion retailer has launched online shopping in China.

Zara’s online ordering platform went live yesterday. Shoppers can now get their purchases delivered to their local store for pickup. Home delivery costs RMB 10 but they'll waive that fee for orders of RMB 299 and more. If the clothes don’t fit, you can ship them back free of charge. For the Beijing area, shipping time is estimated at 2-3 days.

The biggest problem we spotted was the lack of certain sizes. Many of the items we browsed online were not available in the full range of XS-XL. The out-of-stock items are promised to be “Back Soon!” but do keep in mind that you may be able to find those items in the size you're seeking at actual Zara stores, as has been the case with Forever 21’s online versus brick-and-mortar shop.

The number of e-commerce clothing options for Beijingers has been steadily increasing over the past year. To see some of the other choices, see our previous blog posts here and here.
