The Pac Man Cometh: Manny Pacquiao Flies into Beijing Promoting Macao Fight
He might have taken a heavy licking at the hands on Juan Manual Marquez in their fourth bruising encounter back in Dec 2012, but the Pac Man is looking to get his career back on track on Nov 24 with a fight at The Venetian Resort in Macao against the USA's Brandon Rios, and this week the pair flew into Beijing as part of a world-wide media tour.
The two took in the Great Wall on Monday – with Pacquiao struggling to make the climb up the wall, before visiting Tiananmen Square later in the day.
Rios, who has a record of 31 wins from 33 fights, joked with reporters about the state of the Beijing traffic being worse than his native California. He then went on to comment how beautiful Beijing is.
"I can't believe the beauty I have seen in [...] Beijing," he said. "I have seen a life and culture I never imagined. It's been an incredible experience for me. The media and the fans have been wonderful. I know I take a little getting used to but they seem to understand my sense of humor. I think some of them think I'm Chinese."
Rios should probably not expect such a friendly reception in Macao on fight night. Filipino Pacquiao says he expects a lot of his Filipino kin to be in attendance on Nov 24 it being just a 90-minute flight away from the Philippines.
Pacquiao has not fought since last December when he suffered the fifth loss of his career following a brutal knock out by Mexican Marquez. The fight was widely considered to be the best of the year (you can watch the fight in full above) and was the fourth time the two had met. A win for the Pac Man in November is expected to lead to a fifth and final meeting between the two.
