Strike a Pose: US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour Visits Beijing

US Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour visited our fair city this week to promote the upcoming opening of the Costume Institute's Chinese-themed show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

“'China: Through the Looking Glass' will be on view in the Met’s Chinese Galleries and in the Anna Wintour Costume Center beginning May 7. It will feature more than 130 haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear fashions juxtaposed with traditional Chinese masterpieces in jade, lacquer, cloisonné, and blue-and-white porcelain," the museum said in an Instagram post of the above photo.

Expected attendees at the gala launch include Wintour, Wendi MurdochJennifer Lawrence, and Gong LiVogue also publishes a local edition, Vogue China, which began in September 2005.

Wintour is believed to have inspired two fictional characters: Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep in the film "The Devil Wears Prada," and Edna Mode in the film "The Incredibles," voiced by the film's director, Brad Bird

Wintour wore Chanel during her public appearances, and stayed at the Peninsula Hotel, for those of you who were wondering.
