MMA, Muay Thai, and More: Get Brawny with Fight Fusion

Get ready to clench your firsts and kick some ass. On Saturday (Feb 20) Beijing's renowned Fight Camp is relaunching as Fight Fusion, expanding its already brawny boxing repertoire to include a more eclectic array of mixed martial arts (MMA) and Muay Thai moves. What's more, the coordinators are expanding the club's class schedule and opening a new venues.

Fight Fusion will now include three revamped programs, which aspiring ass kickers can sign up for: Fight Fusion CBD, Fight Fusion CBD Women (both at Capital Training Center) and Fight Fusion Sanlitun (at the B Active Gym). Each session runs for six weeks and costs RMB 1,500. Nutrition information packs, along with discounts at numerous local health and fitness businesses, come as a bonus.

Below, head trainer Sean Wright tells us more about Fight Camp's evolution into Fight Fusion.

Incorporating Muay Thai and MMA ...
Part of our identity at Fight Fusion is defined by the use of striking from Muay Thai, boxing, and MMA. This is really for two reasons. First, it’s what we’re good at. It’s where we excel. My background is fighting professionally in both Muay Thai and MMA, as well as coaching those arts, in addition to conventional boxing. That’s where my strengths lie as a coach. Secondly, there are movements in these martial arts and sports that are as fun as they are physically demanding, and we feel people would be missing out if we didn’t give them the opportunity to try them all out. With just boxing, people will definitely get a great workout, but with the addition of kicks and other strikes, a whole new dimension is added. Add in yet another dimension with sprawls from MMA and we’ve got something even better!

More classes and locations ...
With the recent increase in popularity (at Fight Camp), we’ve really begun to expand our classes along with the brand. We currently have 15 classes scheduled throughout the week at locations in both Sanlitun and Chaowai.

A workout for more than the body ...
Our aim is not just to get people in great shape, but to educate and empower them to take control of their own health and fitness. When people first start training, they often haven’t hit anything before. Although all our strikes are performed on pads, in the interest of fitness training I think it can be quite rewarding for people to see what they’re capable of with a little help and encouragement. As their fitness and skill set improves, so does their confidence. And with a group of like minded individuals, all working together towards a common goal, we provide the support network to help them go that extra mile. We really want to provide the whole package  that is the training, the support network, and the diet and lifestyle advice outside the gym that is often the final milestone for people.

Last and not least, everyone is working hard. Everyone has long days, and when’s all said and done there’s nothing better than hitting something as hard as you can when you’re stressed. If that’s not good for your mind, body, and spirit, I don’t know what is.
