Noise Pollution: Chui Wan Release Party, Live Beijing Music's Resurrection, D.O.G. 5-Year Anniversary

As summer creeps into the rearview mirror and autumn makes some headway, it's time to savor the new inaugurations of our favorite bands, labels and music platforms – from Chui Wan’s new intensively intimate and dreamlike album, as well as hardcore veterans Unregenerate Blood’s latest blood-curdling, fist-pumping LP, to label and promoters D.O.G. celebrating five years of ‘blood, sweat, and tears’ and finally to yours truly, LiveBeijingMusic, reveling in the return of our flagship website, six long months after it was hacked. Have a look at the revamped site and join us on Saturday at Moroccan restaurant staple Caravan, where we’ll be celebrating with a wealth of bands, rum, and glorious eats. Staple psychedelic rockers Chui Wan, who tie everything from Spanish dance to Arabic music into their intricate grooves, release their much-anticipated third LP, The Landscape The Tropics Never Had, to legions of fans tomorrow night at Yugong Yishan with support from freak folk duo TOW. 100 RMB

Unregenerate Blood, Shave N’ Shut, Struggle Session, Return The Truth, Discord at School
Since 2005, hardcore heroes Unregenerate Blood have been the de facto band for the hardcore scene here in Beijing. They release their second album, Still Young! Still Angry! tomorrow night with a triumphant, fist-pumpingly aggressive and powerful performance along with the help of friends and fellow hardcore and punk renegades. 80 RMB

Jungle Mico Project at Temple
The live drum’n’bass band – and one of Temple’s biggest hitters – return this Friday. Led by the well-known electronic drummer Mico, the ensemble mix elements of ‘live drum'n'bass, dubstep, dub, break beats, deep techno and more – all performed live on real instruments in real time.’ Expect a wild 'n' out crowd. Cool Rhythm at Jianghu Bar
Cool Rhythm – who play jazz with a blues/funk base featuring female guitarist Gong Zhao, blues harmonica player Zhang Xiaosong, jazz drummer Wu Zhijun and bassist Zhi Zhucheng – celebrate their first anniversary with a special performance at the hutong spot. 100 RMB

King Zhou Laohu at Yue Space
Chinese folk musician King Zhou Laohu (a.k.a. Hu Xiaoming) who hit it big with his second album, Hutong Friendship, brings his lackadaisical point of view and heart-warming tales of life to Yue Space. 100 RMB

Zhang Haonan at Rockland
One of China’s earliest rock musicians – the producer, singer and songwriter Zhang Haonan – stops by the intimate Houhai venue and distro Rockland. 80 RMB

Nachtblut (Germany) at Omni Space
German melodic black metal band Nachtblut raises the dead over by the Temple of Heaven with gothic metal-infused music that’ll have your wee ones donning black eye makeup in no time. Guessing these cats are big with the Chinese kids. 220 RMB

The Groove Collective at Modernista
Hailing from all corners of the globe, the members of The Groove Collective look to ‘channel the city’s chaotic fortune' by mixing their distinctive sounds into a ‘melting pot of disparate rhythms and fun-loving uproar.’ Catch them one last time before the band splits for the unforeseeable future. Carl Patrick Bolleia, Raissa Fahlman, Soyeon Park at La Plantation
Dynamic Americas puts the spotlight on some of the finest composers from North and South America, including pianists Carl Patrick Bolleia and Soyeon Park, as well as clarinetist Raissa Fahlman, who’ll be performing three contemporary waltzes. 200 RMB

Marcus Strickland (US) at Blue Note
The jazz saxophonist and composer, who draws on everything from J Dilla’s hip-hop beats to Bartok’s Hungarian folk music, has been a prominent figure on the jazz scene, playing with the likes of Roy Haynes, Dave Douglas and Jeff “Tain” Waits. Catch him twice this weekend at Blue Note. 360-460 RMB
