EAT: BOGOF Weekdays at Tribe Sanlitun, Half-Priced Salad Steals, After-Work Special at Obentos

There's a bit of a healthy bent to this week's EAT, although that certainly shouldn't imply deprivation of any kind.

Firstly, the Beijinger's (or at least this editor's) favorite healthy restaurant, Tribe Organic, has just launched a series of weekday buy-one-get-one-free deals at their Sanlitun location. Start your week on a healthy note with BOGOF salads on Monday, followed by sandwiches and wraps on Tuesday, noodles and grain bowls on Wednesday, all-day breakfast items on Thursday, and pizza on Friday. We went to try some of Tribe's latest menu items back in July and were impressed with the creativity of the dishes, so expect to see us there ordering the Big Cheese Platter Salad on Mondays and the Green for Life vegetarian pizza, which also just so happens to have a gluten-free almond flour base.

While we're on the subject of BOGOF deals, did you know that both Element Fresh and Gung Ho offer half-price salads on Mondays (technically Gung Ho!'s salads are 50 percent off, but same difference)? The Element Fresh deal is available from 4pm onwards and you'll need to sign up for a free membership, while the Gung Ho deal is available all day.

Over at Obentos in Liangmaqiao, they have a new after-work deal on their shared plates menu, featuring some of their best-selling dishes. Priced at RMB 286 for two, the menu includes six sharing dishes such as miso salmon with yuzu cabbage salad and yogurt panna cotta with black sesame ice cream, plus two portions of miso soup. The deal is only available weekdays 6-7pm so better hustle down there as soon as the boss lets you out of the office.

Ending on a slightly more indulgent note, The Georg have just launched their fall brunch menu. No buffet for The Georg – instead, their classy brunch begins with a mix of shared spreads including a basket full of freshly baked breads, pastries, and dips. You’ll then be served three courses, starting with steamed egg topped with caviar and avocado. Next up is the main course, a confit of duck with black currants, leeks, and seaweed. Dessert comes in two parts, beginning with a refreshing sorbet of mango and grapefruit followed by a generous portion of yangmei ice cream with Valhrona chocolate. All of that food is priced at RMB 350 per person. Food aside, The Georg's airy atrium is a pretty fabulous place to while away an afternoon, especially once the weather gets a little bit too cool to actually sit outside.
