EAT: Wine Pop-Up at Mosto, Hatsune's Kimchi Nabe, New Deals at Beersmith, Vegan Foodies at Root Pop

Start your week as you mean to go on at Mosto's latest wine pop-up, happening now until Dec 7. This time they're bringing together two dozen excellent southern hemisphere wines from producers in Australia, New Zealand, and Chile. The wines will be available at wholesale prices to drink at Mosto or take home (free delivery on orders over RMB 1,000). The talented minds at The Wine Republic will also be offering red and white wine tasting flights for RMB 120 if you want to try before you buy.

For true aficionados, and to celebrate having the team from The Wine Republic in town, Mosto's chef Daniel Urdaneta and sommelier Campbell Thompson have created a five-course wine-paired dinner on Dec 6. Priced at RMB 488 per head, the dinner includes dishes like ahi tuna tiradito, seared foie gras, and red wine-braised beef short ribs.

Hatsune have introduced their latest monthly off-menu special dish: a spicy kimchi nabe (AKA hot pot), perfect for the chilly weather. The broth is made with a base of skipjack tuna, simmered for several hours to heighten the flavor and then finished with kimchi. The broth is served with premium marbled beef and a variety of fresh vegetables, including red amaranth and king oyster mushrooms, for dipping. The nabe is priced at RMB 228 and is available at all Hatsune branches until the end of December.

CBD brewpub Beersmith has a raft of new daily deals to help you ride out the winter, including "lobster Monday," in which the purchase of a wagyu beef burger will get you a free half lobster (if that isn't decadence, we don't know what is) or "ciders and sliders" on Thursday, when ciders and cider cocktails come with a free wagyu beef slider.

Finally, if you're more into beets and legumes than beef and lobster then head down to the vegan foodies event this Saturday, Dec 9, organized by Beijing Volunteer With Animals and sponsored by Towards a Compassionate Nation. Held at vegan restaurant Root Pop, the event will gather together likeminded plant-based eaters to hear from local vegan restaurant owners and diners, who will share their experiences and tips for making delicious vegan food. There will also be a vegan food photo contest, with prizes including Root Pop vouchers. The event is priced at RMB 100, including an all-vegan buffet dinner with dishes such as baked pumpkin and lentil salad and chickpea curry. Register here or scan the QR code on the poster above.
