EAT: Hatsune 18th Anniversary Party, Mulu x Flo, Ice Cream Brunch at Feast
EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.
Hatsune 18th Anniversary Party

On Wednesday, Jul 31, join Hatsune at their Taikoo Li location and help them celebrate 18 years of serving great Japanese food. As a fellow foodie put it, 18 years may as well be 100 years in the Beijing dining scene, so this is a real achievement for the restaurant. DJ Patrick Yu will be there to spin tunes, and the chefs at Hatsune will be serving up an all-you-can-eat and tasty menu of Hatsune classics, including California rolls, 119 rolls, and Princess Li rolls. Tickets are priced at RMB 180 in advance or RMB 220 on the door (if there are any left), including unlimited sushi and booze (Jing-A will be giving out 150 servings of their Koji Red Ale, created in conjunction with Hatsune owner Alan Wong, and 150 servings of their Tuhao Gold Pilsner, so you know it's going to be a party)! To buy tickets, scan the QR code in this post or add Kristen Lum on WeChat at LUMDIMSUM.
Aug 2-3: Mulu Hutong x Flo Four Hands Chef Dinner

On Aug 2-3, Mulu Hutong is collaborating with Flo's catering arm, Flo Prestige, for a "four hands" chef dinner. The four hands in question belong to Chef Barry from Mulu, who hails from a Dai ethnicity area of Yunnan, and Malaysian Chef Chen from Flo. The chefs will prepare a menu of globetrotting dishes such as crispy Nyonya-style pastry tarts, stuffed chicken wings, and Australian flank steak with Sarawak black pepper sauce. Dinner is priced at RMB 688 per person including wine pairing. Find details of how to RSVP in this WeChat post.
Ice cream brunch at Feast

Cool down this summer with an ice-cold brunch at the East Hotel’s Feast Restaurant. They’ve added an ice cream station with over 33 different mix-ins to make your own creation. If that’s not enough, you can also sample their Ice Cream Teppanyaki, or try some popsicles from the Liquid Nitrogen Station. The brunch is available every Saturday and Sunday until Sep 1, priced at RMB 298 per person including free-flow wine, beer, and soft drinks.
Break Your Plastic Habit at Moka Bros

Break your plastic habit and get rewarded for reusing with Moka Bros Bottles. From this week onwards, you can join the Moka family by picking up a limited edition bottle and free coffee at any Moka Bros location. For only RMB 98 per bottle, you get to choose your bottle, collect a complimentary coffee, and receive free large coffee upgrades for the rest of the year, valid at all Moka Bros locations.
How to Find Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants Easier Than Ever

Finally, you may have read our blog earlier but wanted to once again sing the praises of Veg Restaurant Guide, which we just discovered this week. Basically, it's a Beijing-based platform that promotes vegetarianism by helping diners easily locate vegan and vegetarian dining options in the city via a user-friendly interactive map. If you're traveling, the app also covers over 200 other Chinese cities, making it a godsend for tourists and option-strapped vegetarians. Click through for a more in-depth look at the app and see why we're so excited.
