EAT: Cinco de Mayo Celebrations, New Openings from Susu, Shake Shack Opens in Guomao

EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

May 3-5: Cinco de Mayo at Las Musas

At Las Musas, Cinco de Mayo is a whole three-day affair. In addition to buy-one-get-one-free tacos all day on May 3-4, they're running an all-you-can-eat-and-drink brunch on the day itself (which also happens to be a holiday). Be the master of your own meal with live cooking stations and build-your-own quesadillas, nachos, tacos, and skillets. Brunch is priced at RMB 328, including two hours of free-flow margaritas, beers, and soft drinks. The event is pre-ticketed and seats are limited; reserve now and find more info here.

Two upcoming new openings from Susu

Favorite Vietnamese venue Susu is really making moves these days, launching two new restaurants in the coming weeks to add to their existing slate of five. The first is a hidden, 14 seat 'takeaway' shop behind Jingshan Park close to TRB and Big Small Coffee. It sounds like it will be the perfect place to stop in after a trip to the Forbidden City or park and will offer cheap and easy dishes like Banh Mi and chicken thighs and rice. The second is a new branch of Xiao Susu (you'll know that sub-brand from China World Mall) in Xidan, in a newly-renovated mall seemingly called The New New (更新场). That mall, which is set to soft open on Apr 27, will also be home to brands like Arabica, Blueglass, and Fruwich.

Cinco de Mayo specials at Hulu

Hulu is once again teaming up with Pebbles for a Mexican menu in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Sample their take on dishes like nachos, taquitos, and chips with salsa and guacamole served alongside drinks made with premium agave spirits provided by Pebbles owner Ray Heng's new distribution company. The specials are available at all three Hulu locations.

Shake Shack opens new Guomao location

Shake Shack has opened a new restaurant in Guomao, their third Beijing location after Sanlitun Taikoo Li and Xidan Joy City. New Shake Shack openings have always drawn big crowds for its Beijing openings, especially when the Taikoo Li branch opened last August, but reviews have also been mixed. Nevertheless, we are fans, and we're excited to have a new place to grab a burger in the CBD area. Find the new branch on the first floor of China World Mall North Zone, on the southeast corner of the intersection of Jintong Donglu and Guanghua Lu.
