Q MEX Opens New Branch in Wukesong Plus Launches New Menu

Q MEX has opened up a new branch in the Wukesong complex, its fifth branch in Beijing and the first Haidian location for the brand. Situated opposite IKEA, the new location sports a large terrace area complete with a pool table, and the space inside is large and features a colorful mural painted by Spanish artist Miguel Ángel Emérico. There is also a private room suitable for 10-12 guests.

The new Wukesong branch isn't the only exciting news that Q MEX has in store, though; they are also doing a complete menu re-launch across all their branches, with new dishes and a brand new menu look. Some brand new offerings include Carnitas Tacos (RMB 78), the Chicharron Burrito (RMB 27-85) and Creamy Chipotle Chicken Pasta (RMB 78). They've also added some previous limited-edition specials to the permanent menu, such as Birria Tacos (RMB 88) and the Cheese Fondue Burger (RMB 95).

The Wukesong branch also has two dishes that are exclusive to this location: Charcoal-Grilled Chicken and Beef Ribs. Both dishes are only available on the weekend and need to be ordered one day in advance.

Tangled Brings Handmade Pasta to Beixinqiao

Tangled, a sister bar of Dongsi-based wine bistro uh-huh, opened up a few weeks ago near Beixinqiao. Here, they specialize in handmade pasta and, in their own words, bringing “good carbs, good drinks and good vibes” to the neighborhood. Wooden furniture and a red color scheme give the space a welcoming feeling, while the tiled floor brings a touch of the Mediterranean to the bar. Small quirky details like wine bottle lights and a “disco cube” also add a fun, artsy feel.

On to the food itself, they have a range of bites, appetizers, pasta dishes and other mains. Some that caught our eye were the Wagyu Bolognese (RMB 68), which is offered as either a traditional or Yunnan version, and the decadent Prawn & Sea Urchin Pasta (RMB 118), which comes topped with prawn caviar. Although their main focus is on pasta, a non-pasta dish that looks particularly impressive is the Oxtail Pie (RMB 108). To go with the food, they have a range of wines, beers and a carefully crafted cocktail menu with intriguing options like the Nori (RMB 98), which features gin, sesame and nori; or the Herbalist (RMB 78), which mixes gin, dill and green capsicum.

Triple B 3B Moves to MIX Island

Triple B 3B has recently relocated to MIX Island, a definite improvement over their previous hole-in-the-wall-style location in the CBD. Located around the back of the complex, which is also home to other eateries and bars like Mosto, The Bond and Blue Ark, it’s got a cozy indoor dining area and then small terrace area out front. The menu has stayed largely the same, with a range of burgers, sandwiches and brunch offerings. Some signature dishes to watch out for are the Triple B Burger (RMB 118), Reuben Sandwich (RMB 88) and the Breakfast Burrito (RMB 49). They've also got milkshakes, coffees, tea, craft beer, wine and soft drinks to sip on.
