Busy Holiday 3: Plant B Market, Donnie Fan Comedy Show & More

It's the National Holiday! While many of you may have left Beijing for the holiday, for those who have remained in the capital, there is still plenty to do! Today, we'll be taking a look at some events to hit up tomorrow, Oct 3.

Plant B Market at Langyuan Station

This Golden Week, the Plant B Market is coming to Beijing for the first time, taking over Langyuan Station from now until Oct 5. A sustainability-focused market, it's run in partnership with B Corps (Benefit Corporations) China, a certification for brands that meet high global standards in social and environmental impact, transparency, and accountability.

At Plant B, there will be a market featuring 150+ food and lifestyle brands, nonstop live performances from indie musicians and labels, exhibitions by emerging artists, art installations from local design brands and, to keep little ones entertained, an interactive amusement park. 

Plant B Market will be taking place at Langyuan Station from now until Oct 5, from 11am to 8pm each day. Tickets are RMB 39 and can be purchased by scanning the QR code in the poster below. Children under 1.2 meters get in for free. You can read more about the festival here.


Donnie Fan's A Tale of Growing Up Mixed Comedy Show at Nanyang Theater

Catch Donnie Fan's headline show A Tale of Growing Up Mixed tomorrow at Nanyang Theater at 7.30pm. The show has already been on two international tours and is now prepping for another China tour as well as an Australian/NZ/European leg. Fan's hour-long special touches on topics of growing up mixed-race, coming from a broken home, his struggles in dating and observations of his life and special situations in China. He's known for a comedy style that is vulnerable but hilarious! He's been seen on CCTV, CGTN and The Joe Wong Podcast, and he is soon to be on IQIYI International. If you're unable to make the show tomorrow, it's also taking place on Oct 18, Nov 15 and Dec 13.

Donnie Fan's A Tale of Growing Up Mixed Comedy Show will be taking place at Nanyang Theater on Oct 3, Oct 18, Nov 15 and Dec 13. Early bird tickets are RMB 88 and standard tickets are RMB 108. Tickets can be purchased by scanning the QR code in the poster above. 


The Mist at Modernista 

Tomorrow, The Mist returns to Modernista with their fearless sound and unstoppable energy. Comprised of Tracy on vocals, Severus Qian on keys, Li Yong on guitar, Wang Yu on guitar and Yang Hao on drums, they mix pop, funk and rock, and are always a big hit when they play there. After the live band, DJ Anosi takes over with heavy beats, plus there's a shot hour special to keep the party going late into the night. 

The Mist will be playing at Modernista from 9pm, entry is free but minimal consumption on tables is RMB 200 per person. You can read more about The Mist here.

Side Street Golden Week Deal

Both Side Street locations are currently offering a special Golden Week Deal for the holiday. If you order any of their RMB 78 or RMB 88 burgers, plus a portion of fries, you'll receive a free glass of lager or wheat beer. Burgers include favorites like the El Cholo 2.0, Very Gouda, Cheezy Beast Burger, Captain Chili and many more. 

Side Street's Golden Week Deal is running now until Oct 8 and is available at both Side Street locations.
