2025 Year-in-Review: New Restaurants & Bars Pt. 1

It has been quite the year for Beijing! In our 2025 Year-in-Review, we're taking a look back at the happenings in the capital from this year that was.

Following on from a look at some of this year's closures in Beijing's F&B scene, we've got some more cheerful news in the form of new restaurants that opened this year! In 2025, the capital saw a significant number of new eateries and bars open, so we've narrowed it down to a few of our favorites, divided into three parts and covering the year chronologically. So, without further ado, here's a look at part one!

TIAMO

Right at the beginning of the year, the space formerly occupied by Apollo in Sanlitun was taken over by TIAMO. An offshoot of OTIUM •柴屿麦, a bistro-style eatery situated by the Liangma River, TIAMO specializes in handmade pasta dishes.

Le Coq

The Le Coq group opened their first Beijing Le Coq Wine & Bistro store in Taikooli earlier this year. A Shanghai-based brand, they specialize in French fusion food, combining traditional French cooking techniques with modern flavors such as Asian sauces. Along with food, they've got an excellent wine selection, signature and classic cocktails, mocktails and other drinks.

One Thousand and One Nights

Following the closure of their original location near Tuanjiehu subway station, One Thousand and One Nights reopened at a new location inside the T+ Mall in Sanlitun. The new spot boasts a large space spread out across two separate dining areas. Foodwise, the menu remains largely the same as at their original location, with lots of BBQ and kebab options.

Rabiul's Kitchen 

Also opening in March was Rabiul's Kitchen, located just across the road from the west side of the 798 Arts District. Like all of Dastaan's locations, they serve up high-quality, authentic Indian cuisine, with everything from classics to chef specials, street food and more.

CULTURE 

Sanlitun SOHO got a new resident in the form of Pakistani restaurant CULTURE. Coming from the same team behind restaurant and bar Puff & Chill, CULTURE specializes in bringing the rich flavors and traditions of Pakistan's culinary delights to Beijing. They have everything from kebabs to biryanis, curries and sweets, all created with authentic spices and fresh ingredients.

Duli

Shanghai-based vegan bistro Duli opened their first Beijing branch back in April. It's located inside the new Friendship Store Complex, one street down from Side Street Jianguomen and Nola, just south of Ritan Park. Here, they serve up a range of their signature dishes like Mapo Tofu Hummus, Corn and Cauliflower Fritter With Bao and Tom Yum Wanton Soup.

a BAR of crayon 

Another new spot that opened up in April was a BAR of crayon, a new cocktail bar created by former Union bar manager Harry Hua and his team in collaboration with bar Long Fong. The bar carries on the Union team’s modern cocktail style, while also expanding on Long Fong's use of lesser-known Chinese ingredients.

IBIZA the Oasis

This pool club brings the vibes of its namesake Ibiza with a sandy beach area, stunning large outdoor pool, beach bar and DJ booth. They've got a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available, along with bar snacks and shisha and they host regular pool parties during summer. (Note: they're currently closed for the season.)

WAWABEER 

WAWABEER opened a full-fledged dine-in spot, a great upgrade from their previous takeout window. Located in Tuanjie Xinli, the same complex that houses Golden Dog, they've got ten different burgers on the menu plus new additions like tacos, a sausage platter and other snacks as well as eight of their signature beers and four kombuchas on tap.

Tangled 

Tangled, a sister bar of Dongsi-based wine bistro uh-huh, opened at the end of May near Beixinqiao. Here, they specialize in handmade pasta and, in their own words, bringing “good carbs, good drinks and good vibes” to the neighborhood. To go with the food, they have a range of wines, beers and a carefully crafted cocktail menu.
