2025 Year-in-Review: Places That Opened New Branches Pt. 1

2025 was quite the year for Beijing! In our 2025 Year-in-Review, we're taking a look back at the happenings in the capital from the year that was.

We've covered new restaurants and bars that opened in 2025 in our three-part series, and now we're turning our attention to places that opened new branches. In this part one post, we'll be taking a look at places that opened in the first half of the year.

Slider Nation WAB

After much anticipation in Beijing's burger community, Slider Nation ​​​​​​opened its first fully-fledged restaurant in February. Located by Western Academy of Beijing (WAB), here you can, of course, get their array of delicious sliders, plus other dishes like tacos, snacks, shareables and more. Aside from food, you can also get their signature slushies with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties available.

Gung Ho! Shuangjing

Gung Ho! made a triumphant return to Shuangjing in March 2025. Opening up inside the Space 3 Mall, which is also home to Q MEX's Shuangjing location. At the Shuangjing branch, you can get their usual array of high-quality pizzas, pasta, salads and more. Personally, we like to keep things classic with their Pepperoni (RMB 89), although we're also pretty big fans of the Lord of the Lambs (RMB 119) and the Chicken with Bell Pepper (RMB 89). If you can't decide on your topping, don't forget that you can choose to do a Half and Half Pizza as well.

Goose Island Daji Xiang

In May 2025, Goose Island opened a branch in the redeveloped hutong area Daji Xiang. Here, they've combined their usual gastropub vibe with traditional hutong courtyard architecture. They've got 16 of their great brews on tap as well as their usual offerings of great burgers, pizza and other pub grub.

Peiping Machine Friendship Store Complex

Beijing brewery Peiping Machine opened up a new branch in the Friendship Store Complex. Their ninth branch in the capital, here you can get Peiping Machine's usual array of great brews and delicious bites, such as their famous Beijing Roast Duck Jianbing (RMB 58).

Q MEX Wukesong

In early summer 2025, Q MEX opened up a new branch in the Wukesong complex, its fifth branch in Beijing and the first Haidian location for the brand. Situated opposite IKEA, the Wukesong location sports a large terrace area, along with ample inside seating and features a colorful mural painted by Spanish artist Miguel Ángel Emérico. The new Wukesong branch wasn't the only big news for Q MEX in 2025, though; they also did a complete menu re-launch across all their branches, with new dishes and a brand new menu look, which you can read more about here.

Gran Moji Longfusi

Mexican restaurant Moji opened up Gran Moji in the Longfusi complex. The space boasts a large outdoor "Mexican Garden" area that's perfect to enjoy come the warmer months. Foodwise, tey have their usual Mexican fare, plus some Western dishes like pasta, paella, steak and more. If you're looking to save some money, they have a Taco Tuesday deal from 5pm where all tacos are half price.
