finally, one crappy band less in this city's "rock scene"

So true.

Who cares about a crap band breaking up and then "reforming" immediately with a "different line-up".

Pathetic, attention-whoring.

Chinese pop bands suck.

I take a closer look and the fat guy is me

And we have five winners!

Congratulations to Larissa, Fiona, Jo, Aron and Craig, who each won themselves a double pass to Semmarit's show on Friday.

what about the ears?
The heads were neatly sliced in half, with the insides showing, but since they were served braised it was hard to distinguish what, exactly, we were being served. And yes, it wasn't until I bit into the ears ...

it's not a meal, but Da Zhong Electronics is having a "Thanksgiving" sale

Hmm, Chinese electronics store having Thanksgiving sales that coincide with American Thanksgiving ...

I suppose one day we'll see Best Buy in America having "Founding of the Peoples' Republic of China" sales

You're right, it's not the official English-language slogan but a little digging on our part should be able to clean the matter up:

There are signs painted across Guangzhou, by some branch or the other of the city government, that include the Chinese phrase 让我们的广州到处充满爱, which translated into English is "Let our Guangzhou be full of love everywhere".

There have been claims that this sign has since been seen around town in English but with the translation having become "Let's make love everywhere in our Guangzhou". Some have even claimed to have seen it on the official Asian Games site at one point.

We're going to sit on the fence for now because, as entirely believable this is, there have been no photos so far.
