Teaching people how to behave properly in the subway station would be more effective. Getting the old bullhorns out and telling them to move faster is more like it. I'd rather take the bus these days than go into the subway station. Sometimes people think it's funny to walk very slowly and hold people up. And these are young people , too. Embarrassing!

You're not serious? Slow down the movement of passengers? Half the people in the subway already move like anemic tree sloths - and the other half are standing and gawking at the ceiling. What we need is a slow lane and a fast lane for those of us to whom subways are about speed and convenience. The pudding-footed pace of subway riders are about the number 1 reason why I try to avoid the subway here.

I don't think people are naive about development and its "benefits" - I think it's just some answer they give to a strange (foreigner?) journalist they have no reason to trust. Perhaps they're shy. Perhaps they're afraid of getting quoted in the wrong place and suffering repercussions. They're not sure who they're talking to.

The only people I've met who are happy to fire off political opinions are my co-workers and taxi drivers. But lots of people are super jaded and cynical about "development" - they save it for the online forums: yay, anonymity.

still tough to know whether this is happening or not.
The myspace page is legit and linked to from BB King's official website. You'd think they would be able to keep current/updated information on there

Also, one of the comments is from an insider to the music scene saying that this will take place but at a different venue

and if past experience is a guide, be prepared to wait in line for up to an hour to get in ...

The German market is always good, with gluhwein and plenty of beer and bratwurst etc. Take a couple of hundred kuai with you though. And bring your passport - they absolutely will not let you in without it.

Andrewinbj, there is overwhelming evidence that high levels of air pollution leads to an increased risk of getting lung cancer, as well as chronic bronchitis and heart diseases, among many other effects. This is not even a debate in any country, including in China. No one in China's public health system would deny that.
