Upscale Seafood in Sanlitun: Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant

The opening of Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant (formerly located in Jianguomen) signals that the north section of Sanlitun Village is finally coming out of its shell.

Those who aren’t tempted by edible sea snails needn’t rule Ah Yat out – the extensive selection of dishes here suits all manner of palate and bank account. Options range from cheap dim sum (mostly around RMB 16-30) and sweet-and-sour pork (RMB 55) to the highest-quality abalone from South Africa (RMB 1,980).

Even those versed in Cantonese cuisine may feel a little overwhelmed by the huge menu, but the helpful staff plus a selection of intelligently balanced set meals should leave you worry-free and happily overfed.
