Web Two-Point-Ho: Gung Ho! Online Ordering Launches Today

Gung Ho! Pizza launched their online ordering service this morning (January 31). You'll still be able to call up to place your order, but the online site looks like it will be a massive innovation once the inevitable early-days teething issues are straightened out.

We gave the service a test-run this morning. Ordering from the site (order.gunghopizza.com) is as simple as checking boxes to indicate your preferences, with both Chinese and English available. You'll then receive a confirmation email including an estimated time of arrival for your pizza (you can also request a phone call to confirm your order).

Things didn't go 100 percent smoothly, but Gung Ho!'s staff deserve credit for being well-prepared for first-day hitches. A member of staff had to call us to clarify one or two points on our order - this led to the ETA being pushed back by 20 minutes. Although this meant a total wait of an hour, the staff did the best they could in keeping us informed - and in the end our pizzas arrived two minutes ahead of the 2.50pm ETA we had been given. No complaints there.

We've just finished devouring a pile of pizzas, and are pretty satisfied that online ordering will be a huge success for Gung Ho! - it's fast, easy and will remove the language barrier issues that occasionally get in the way of a telephone order.

A few tips from Gung Ho! on how to maximize your own happiness when ordering online:

"Use a modern browser! Our faves are Chrome and Firefox but we support all modern browsers. Unfortunately, like a lot of popular web services we don’t support Internet Explorer 6. There’s an ever growing list of reasons why, but the shortest answer is that it’s over 10 years old now!

Wait for the whole thing to load! The webpage may take a few seconds to load but once it’s up you’ll be able to check out all that Gung Ho! goodness as well as flip back and forth from the order and take out sections without loading anymore pages.

Register! After you’ve setting a GHP account, you can literally make an order in 5 seconds or less! And registering is easy! You can register first by clicking on the ‘register’ link at the top right hand corner of the page or auto-register after you’ve placed your order. This is in no way compulsory so by all means, give it a go first.

Finally, in the wonderful world of technology things can go wrong. If you have any problems, please help us fix them by letting us know! You can call the delivery hotline for urgent stuff or email us at johnandjade@gunghopizza.com."

So there you go. Happy ordering!

This is perfect -- ordering without needing to speak to anyone. Gung Ho became my pizza provider of choice for this one reason. Now I'm hooked on the Paleo salad created by our GM.

Kemp - Yeah, I can see them coming up with an app sooner or later. Definitely one to look forward to. Though I assume you meant "order a pizza" ...
