Two Exhibitions You Shouldn’t Miss During Mid-Autumn Festival

You can't eat mooncakes the entire weekend, can you? Here are two exhibitions to feed your brain with this weekend:

Resplendent Objects from the Tang Dynasty at National Museum

There are around 120 artworks from Shaanxi History Museum, which represent the magnificence of the capital Chang’an in Tang dynasty. Explore the heyday of the dynasty through six sections, "Military and Civil Endeavor for Peace", "The Treasures of the Imperial Family", "Beauties of Chang’an", "Hunting, Sport and Entertainment", "Aliens in the Tang Empire", and "Science and Religion" which together provide a general picture of culture, life, art, and ties with foreign countries. Highlights are the pottery jars discovered at Hejia Village, murals, and three-colored pottery figures.

Landscapes of the Mind, National Art Museum of China

Tate Britain, London, brings over 70 masterpieces (1700-1980) to Beijing. Oil paintings, and watercolor drawings by the renowned artists, including J.M.W. Turner, Thomas Gainsborough, Thomas Girtin, John Constable, and John Everett Millais, are separated into five sections to represent the development of landscape painting in Britain through the works by the great masters of Western art.
