Three Spots to Get Your Negroni Fix for Negroni Week 2025
If there’s one thing you can look forward to as the Earth makes its way around the sun every year, it’s that there’s a holiday for almost everything, every day of the week. This is especially true for days dedicated to cocktails and liquor.
And while most drinks do get just one day every year, there’s one that has an entire week all to its own: the Negroni.
Negroni Week is an annual event first kicked off in 2013 by Imbibe magazine to celebrate the equal parts bitter tipple, and it has since grown and gone global in reach. Last year, over 13,000 bars across 90 countries took part in the weeklong event, generating over USD 600,000 for Slow Food, a movement of local groups and activists the world over working together to ensure people all over the world have access to good, clean and fair food.

Taking place Sep 22-28 this year, Negroni Week has once again teamed up with Slow Food as this year’s charity partner, and all funds generated will be channeled to community-led projects championing better and more sustainable food and drink.
To take part, simply visit a participating bar – there are a whopping 65 bars taking part in Beijing this year – and order a Negroni. You can find the list of all participating bars here, but if you’re curious about trying something new or just want a quality classic Negroni, we’ve got three picks for ya.
a BAR of Crayon

Opened earlier this year by former Union bar manager Harry Hua and the team behind Bar Long Fong, a BAR of Crayon boasts a menu of craft cocktails and decidedly modern takes on the classics. This is especially the case for their two Negroni Week specials.
There’s the Aged Negroni (RMB 108, pictured), which sees the gin, red vermouth and Campari trifecta mingled with roasted coconut, vanilla and coffee beans. Then there’s the Wetland Negroni (RMB 108), which swaps out red vermouth for a vermouth blend while also welcoming beetroot, cacao, and bold Fernet Branca to the party with gin and Campari.

Alley Diagon

Sitting not too far from Andingmen, Alley Diagon is a cozy little spot that pays a bit of homage to Harry Potter and, equally so, their Beijing roots in the drinks they make. For Negroni week, they’ve got one special interpretation on offer: the South Negroni. The drink takes the traditional equal parts base and adds a bit of southwestern China to the mix by way of grapefruit, Yunnan coffee and 木姜子 mùjiāngzǐ – a small green fruit prized in Yunnan and Guizhou for its pungent, lemongrass-like flavor.

The Local

We know what you’re thinking – the Local seems like an odd place to go for just a Negroni. Based on the bar’s attention to details when it comes to classic drinks – especially those of the Tiki variety – we think it’s the best spot on the list of 65 for a classic Negroni in central Beijing.
And a traditional Negroni (RMB 70) is what you’ll find here, made with equal parts Beefeater gin, Dolin red vermouth and Campari. No fancy bells or whistles, just a no-nonsense Negroni.
