So I think the correct sentence would have been:

"Tomorrow is Friday but not the end of the week yet"

And you think it should have been written:

"Tomorrow night is Friday but not the weekend yet"

Is the writer on hand to explain?

I think delving into what being 14 years of age or not in a coma or the months of the year have to do with Friday supposedly being part of the "weekend" will not be fruitful so we should leave that for another time.

The writer, whose blog output consists primarily of live music roundups of what's going on over the "weekend", considers Friday night the beginning of the weekend, like pretty much most of modern-day mankind over the age of 13 that lives by the standard gregorian calendar and is not either (a) part of a bizarre religious cult; (b) so poverty-stricken as to have to work 7 days a week regularly; or (c) in some sort of coma.

Wealthy residents in South Africa and Brazil built huge luxurious gated communities to separate themselves from the poor folk thinking they were in control. Then somehow they ended up being trapped inside whilst chaos spiraled around outside. Now they are stuck because they inequality they created came back to haunt them. And so it goes...

"The fence is intended to strengthen the spirit of our community, enshrining Shunyi's distinct identity from the rest of Beijing. We don't see this as a barrier of exclusion - it's about keeping the Shunyi spirit alive. It's a fence of love."

It is to keep people out, that's all. Was the Great Wall a "wall of love?"

No, I can't understand a word.

Is there a theBeijinger-English dictionary available?

Hey kid, I get it, I used to teach English too. One day you'll learn to lose that stuff at the classroom door.

Nice try, ArchieOtto, I mean with "evolution" and all these phrases like "weight of time" or "in order to have a future". But take a look at the last post/when the article was published; and then go and take a walk around the area one of these days - you will find out what happended since then yourself.
