For the record, the photo leading into the article is not a dinner. Dinner is a meal. It is not a few appetizers arranged on a plate by a cook who couldn't cut it as an artist and gets revenge overcharging the deluded for half-a**ed appetizers dragged out as an "entree."

Correct. The food in the top pick is not even an appetizing appetizer. More like rabbit food.

2019 Beijing Pizza Festival Recap: Spot Yourself Among the Crowds

Shouldn't there be a trigger warning prefacing the article? "Pizza Fest" sounds a lot like "pizza face," a cruel put-down for acne sufferers. I had a couple of zits in high school and I'm really feeling threatened just scoping out the thread.

Pizza Face  (the band) actually played at Pizza Fest '19 (briefly, before their riotous set was shut down by the police)

Did they have the pizza festival this year as this is from 2018?

I have no idea but I *gasp* commented on an old article because the photos of so-called "pizzas" looked terrible.

It would take a brave chef to sneak a chilli into a traditional Cantonese dish! The locals like to taste what they're eating. I spent a couple of years in ChangSha and sometimes wondered what the chef was disguising with chilies. I got the impression it was throw in some chilies and that'll make it a traditional 'hot' Hunan dish.

In England we're spoilt with Indian hot and spicy curries, a good Madras makes a Hunan chilli dish rather tame!

Very interesting read, as usual. I also make plans of living a "without-mobile" life.  I imagine it will be so cool, and all. But then I think, "this is the new way of living!" Through my self introspection, I find that I am getting mature in its usage. At least I make sure there is some positive return on being so "dissolved" in it. Biggrin

Mandarin Monday is my favorite segment, and I find it interesting how things are same everywhere. Just the words or the way of expression is different. And, I also agree with Gio that there are two sides of the coin. And I wish that we all become good at contemplating both sides of the coin!
