Smooth(ie) Operator: Fight the Summer Heat with These Drinks

Summer in Beijing can be summed into one word: scorcher. As it is nearing the months in which days grow longer, and clothes grow shorter, we figured having a game-plan ready to escape the heat isn’t a bad idea. But dodging the heat doesn’t have to mean retreating to the sidewalk freezer stand and grabbing the nearest sugar-laden ice cream (and in doing so destroying that hard earned summer figure you sweated for in winter). Why not grab a smoothie instead? Gulp down all the guilty pleasure of delicious sweetness, with the added benefits of vitamins and enriching energy boosts. Below are some of our suggestions for smoothies in the city:

Passionate Papaya Smoothie
Changing up their menu for the incoming heat by introducing new spring/summer flavors, Element Fresh have decided to turn to the tropics for this year’s smoothie inspiration. Sit back and relax with a glass filled with papaya, mango, coconut water, and fresh lemon, and let your thoughts drift away to a deserted coastal strip with every sip.

Wagas Favourite
A mix of excellent smoothie bases; juicy mango, sweet passionfruit, delicious elderflower, plus health conscious yoghurt and low fat milk, ensures this well-rounded smoothie lives up to the name ‘favourite’.

Hydrate
Moka Bros aim to take on the phrase ‘fight fire with fire’ with their smoothie Hydrate. Featuring that vegetable we know as the epitome of cool - the cucumber, paired with smashings of zingy kiwi, and finally the coup de grâce, a firey injection of Sichuan pepper, this drink is sure to both cool off, and fire off, your mouth.
