Splash Out on Mio's Business Lunch

Being the busy, high-flying professionals that we are, we're always on the look out for good business lunch deals. While many of our favorite lunch deals Mosto, Migas, Hatsune (winner of 'Best Business Lunch' in this year's Reader Restaurant Awards  are located in Sanlitun, it's nice to get out of our comfort zone every once in a while.

Located on the third floor of Four Seasons Beijing, Mio offers an alternative destination for those in the Sanlitun/Liangmaqiao area. We've always been fans of Mio's creative take on Italian cuisine and the, ahem, "glizty" decor is certainly part of its charm, but those that visit during the day will find it much more toned down and approachable.

Mio offers a three (RMB 158, all prices plus 15 percent surcharge) or four course menu from a short selection of starters, pizzas, mains, and desserts. Start with the caprese salad, a well seasoned take on what can often be an uninspiring combination of bland ingredients. After that, the thin-crusted pizza shows why Mio is one of the top seeds in the "upscale" category of this year's Pizza Cup. From the mains, do not miss the saffron risotto with slow cooked lamb ragout rich and unctuous, although some might find the saffron flavor a little strong. Other mains include a beef burger, mortadella sandwich, or homemade pasta with tomato sauce.

Those who don't have so much business to attend to in the afternoon will want to add RMB 50 for a glass of house wine.

P.S. Don't miss the chance to experience Mio's seasonal truffle menu, priced at RMB 988 for six courses. We didn't get chance to try the whole menu, but we did sample the black truffle flatbread (pictured above), an incredible textural combination of crisp flatbread, silky arugula and artichoke pureés, and earthy black truffles.
