Kipp's Picks: Maovember Limbo Dance, Neon Zoo Anniversary, Mr. Maovember, and The Italian Dimension
Who could have guessed a decade ago that we would all be growing mustaches not only as an excuse to party like some of our favorite icons of the 80s but also for advocacy and charity. Well that’s what it’s about this week, but there’s also a couple proper dance parties at Migas and Lantern to get jiggly to as well.
Nov 25: Maovember Limbo Dance & Lei Your Friend for Charity
Get over to the Tiki Bungalow as they host a sassy mustache-themed party based on the hit 80s TV serial Magnum PI. Everyone will totally get lei’d, there will be limbo, and some alcoholic prizes for best Hawaiian shirt or most “magnum” mustache. All proceeds go to Orbis, an organization helping to provide much needed eye care to rural communities of China. Free. 7pm-12am. The Tiki Bungalow
Nov 28: Neon Zoo 2 Year Anniversary
NB Noise and Neon Zoo turn two years old this Saturday. Since their humble beginnings they’ve been turning dance floors into psychedelic jungles fueled by the techno sounds of the future. Expect all the usual UV shenanigans including UV lighting, face and body painting, animal masks, gifts, visuals from VJ Lone Light, and music from eight of Beijing’s finest DJs. RMB 50. 10pm. Lantern
Nov 28: Mr. Maovember Moustache and Beard Championships
The facial hair themed tomfoolery continues on Saturday night to see which man (or lady) in town has the best beard or mustache. During the event one keg of Jing A Flying Fist IPA will be free flow until the keg is empty.
