EAT: Annie's Wine Dinner, Opera Bombana Dine and Wine, The Second Hutong Food Week, April 1-9

It seems like this week is the time to wine and dine, with two wine pairing dinners setting themselves apart as go-to events for foodies this week.

The first wine pairing dinner on Wednesday (Mar 29) is held at Annie's Antipasteria. Titled Annie's Sunshine 100 Wine Dinner, with a special rustic menu designed by Chef Alessio Di Tullio, this month's special wine dinner features a smoked salmon fillet with caviar of citrus and dill foam, a terrine of foie gras with raspberry jelly, and mackerel fillet cooked at low temperature as a double appetizer. The dinner kicks off at 7pm and will set you back RMB 400. To reserve a seat, call 185 1098 8846.

For something a little (or a lot) more upscale, Opera Bombana is hosting Dine and Wine with the Starts, also on Wednesday, March 29. This evening will present an array of exquisite dishes (see the menu above) prepared by Chef Marino D'Antonio, paired with selected wines from Bellavista Franciacorta.

The evening at Opera Bombana starts at 7pm, and is more exclusive, costing RMB 1,600 per person. Call ahead to book.

If just one dinner is not enough to satiate your appetite, then the Second Hutong Food Week might be more to your liking. Think of it as a 10-day-long treasure hunt through the city's favorite hutong bars and restaurants (with great discounts on eats and drinks as on the menus posted above and below). The more qualifying dishes you eat and qualifying drinks you drink, the more food and drinks you'll be able to redeem at the final party at Zarah on April 9.

Think of it as a great way to discover more restaurants and bars. Even if you consider yourself somewhat of a hutong food connoisseur, we're confident you will find something new.
