New Line 28 Planned for Beijing Subway

The Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. has announced plans for the construction of Line 28 of the Beijing Subway, one of many projects approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for the continued development of the city’s rail transit system. 

The new line will begin at Dongdaqiao station and then head southeast, running mainly along Chaoyangmenwai Dajie, Chaoyang Lu, Zhenzhi Lu, Jianguo Lu, Maoxing Xilu, and Guangqu Lu. The line will be around 8.7 kilometers long and will run completely underground.

There are nine planned stations, six of which will be transfer stations.

  • 京广桥站 Jingguangqiao (transfer)
  • 光华路站 Guanghua Lu (transfer)
  • 景辉街站 Jinghui Jie 
  • 大望路站 Dawanglu (transfer)
  • 茂兴西路站 Maoxing Xilu (transfer)
  • 大郊亭站 Dajiaoting (transfer)
  • 广渠路站 Guangqu Lu 
  • 广渠东路站 Guangqu Donglu

Beijing Prominent on Fortune Global 500 List

Fortune recently published the 2025 edition of their Global 500 list, which ranks the world’s largest companies by revenue. Beijing made a strong showing on the list, with the headquarters of 47 companies represented – the most of any individual city on the list.

China boasts more than 120 companies on the list, and three entries in the Top 10. Of these three, all are headquartered in Beijing: State Grid, China National Petroleum and Sinopec Group. 

Of Beijing’s 47 listed companies, 41 are state-owned, with the remaining six being private enterprises. The companies listed are in a range of industries. 


Central Axis Exhibition Celebrates 1 Year of UNESCO World Heritage Status

The Guanzhong Central Axis Cultural Museum (“The Guàn”) is currently putting on an exhibition to celebrate the first anniversary of the inclusion of the Central Axis on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Included in the exhibition are photographs, video and other physical objects, showcasing a historical record of daily life in and along the Central Axis. Many of these materials are the original items presented as part of the process to gain World Heritage status.

The exhibition runs until Aug 18. Admission is free. More information about the exhibition, including booking details, can be found on the museum’s official WeChat account (search “观中”) or through their mini program (search “观中服务”).
