Migas Pop-Up, Goan Food Fest and More Foodie & Boozy Specials

Beijing’s winter dining scene is kicking off with a flurry of special events, guest chef takeovers and limited-time menus. From a final farewell to Migas and a vibrant Goan Food Festival to new cocktail launches and seasonal comfort eats, here are a few events and specials to watch out for!

Migas' Chef Miguel x Shunpachi Winter Matsuri at the Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing

If you didn't get a chance to bid farewell to Migas Mercado before its sudden closure a few weeks ago, then you have one final chance to say goodbye! This weekend (Dec 5-6), Migas' former Executive Chef Miguel, bartender James, and two resident DJs will be guest appearing at the Hyatt Regency. Chef Miguel is teaming up with Shunpachi Head Chef David to create an eight-course fusion set menu (RMB 688) that will be available from 6pm to 9pm, Dec 5-6 at Shunpachi.

Over at The Music Bar, former Migas chief bartenderJames will be doing a special guest shift both nights, serving up some exclusive cocktails that pay homage to Migas' famous rooftop terrace. There will also be two guest DJ appearances from previous regulars behind the Migas decks: DJ Kitchen, taking over the decks on Friday, and DJ Oshi, taking over the decks on Saturday.

The Shunpachi Winter Matsuri will be taking place at the Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing on Dec 5 and 6. The eight-course dinner is RMB 688 and is available from 6pm to 9pm. You can reserve your spot now by scanning the QR code in the poster above, and you can read more about the event here.

Goan Food Festival at Dastaan

This weekend (Dec 5-7), Dastaan is putting on a Goan Food Festival with a Buffet Dinner on Friday and Saturday and a Buffet Lunch on Sunday. They will be bringing the vibrant tastes of Goa to Beijing with a range of signature Goan dishes with everything from seafood to curries, traditional snacks and more. Some dishes we think sound particularly intriguing are the Kelyachyo Poppers, a Goan take on jalapeño poppers; the Samarein Chi Kodi, a North Goa–style coconut curry with mango and prawns; and the Goan Chicken Pulao. You can check out the full menu below.

Dastaan's Goan Buffet Dinner (RMB 178/adult; RMB 78/child aged 5-12) will be taking place on Dec 5 and 6 from 6pm to 10pm. The Buffet Lunch (RMB 148/adult; RMB 68/child aged 5-12) will be taking place on Dec 7 from noon to 3pm. Both buffets include free-flow beer, white and red wine, whisky and soft drinks. The Peninsula Beijing's Icelandic Dome Experience

We covered this last week, but it really is worth mentioning again. The Peninsula Beijing has just launched the Icelandic Dome Experience. An immersive pop-up where groups of four to eight can enjoy an Iceland-inspired tasting menu inside one of two beautifully designed private domes. The menu leans heavily into Iceland’s seafood traditions, featuring arctic char, gravlax, rye-bread open sandwiches, house-made lamb hot dogs, and a standout salted cod plokkfiskur, all finishing with a surprisingly delicious rye bread ice cream.

Two packages are available: the Volcano (RMB 2,888) and the Aurora (RMB 3,888), each offering three hours in the dome, snacks, dessert and a selection of wines or spirits by the bottle. There is also an exclusive 30 percent discount for the first 20 readers to mention the Beijinger when booking (call: 010 8516 2888 or contact via WeChat ID: 185 1352 1646). You can read more details about it here.
